At AgilityFeat, we believe that the best developers don’t just follow specs. They think ahead, automate where they can, and build solutions that make their teams stronger. That’s exactly who Julio González is.
A Senior Frontend Engineer from Guatemala, Julio brings over 10 years of experience in React, TypeScript, and distributed team leadership. He’s passionate about clean code, accessibility, and building tools that make his work — and his team’s work — more efficient.
In the interview below, Julio shares insights from his time at Indeed, where he:
- Led a distributed team spanning Guatemala, Mexico, Argentina, and Ukraine
- Increased test coverage from 12% to 40% using RTL, Jest, and Cypress
- Delivered accessibility upgrades that achieved WCAG 2.1 AA compliance
- Solved timezone challenges and optimized collaboration across cultures
But Julio didn’t stop with the client. He has continued to innovate in his work with other clients since then.
After completing a 4-month AI course, he built a custom Visual Studio Code extension that automatically translates content from English to Spanish and French — saving his team hours each week and proving how AI can deliver real-world value, fast.
Julio also combines his own skills with AI tools to ensure that he is always learning, and always producing the best possible code for his clients. He says:
“The way I ensure the quality and maintainability in my day-to-day work, is first I develop the feature, and once I have all the requirements met, I do a code refactor. After that, I rely on AI to see if there are pieces of the code that I can do better. In that way my code will be maintainable.”
Julio exemplifies what makes Latin American tech talent so valuable
